Bosnia's State Prosecutor has denied claims made by a judge that it eavesdrops and works to an agenda set by the country's Bosniak political parties.

Bosnia's Prosecutor's Office has denied eavesdropping and rebuffed claims that it works unde the influence of the country's main Bosniak parties.

“It is sad that some judicial officials, even judges... join in media attacks on institutions,” the Prosecutor said on Wednesday. 

Croatian Ex-President Urges New 'Dayton' For Bosnia

Former Croatian president Stjepan Mesic is to advocate a new international conference on Bosnia, so that the country can become a 'citizens's state divided into several multi-ethnic cantons'.

The former Croatian President on Friday is to propose a new Dayton-style agreement on Bosnia in Mostar, where he is due to deliver a speech.

Mesic's proposal involves Croatia initiating the main changes to the 1995 Dayton Ohio deal, which ended Bosnia's 1992-5 war.

A meeting on Thursday brought Afghan election officials, civil society groups and women's right activists together to discuss election security, voter awareness and election transparency. 

The Canadian Ambassador to Afghanistan, Deborah Lyons, was also in attendance. She said she appreciated the efforts made by civil society groups in coordination with the government to enhance public awareness about the elections.

ECC Reviews Provincial Council Candidates' Education Records

Nine hundred provincial council candidates submitted incomplete educational documents to election officials and 400 do have credentials whatsoever, the Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) said Wednesday.

ECC officials reported the figures midway through the public documentation review they began this week to verify provincial council candidates were eligible for the elections.

Sudan’s ruling National Congress Party (NCP) is stepping up efforts to convince opposition alliance known as the National Consensus Forces (NCF) to take part in national dialogue aimed at resolving the country’s crisis.

In late January, Sudanese president Omer Hassan al-Bashir delivered a live televised speech to the nation in which he announced a four-point plan for reform “to stop the war and bring peace, free political society, fight against poverty and revitalise national identity”.

The centre-left coalition has expressed dissatisfaction with consultations held with President Bujar Nishani over an appointment to the Supreme Court.

After meeting Nishani to discuss the replacement of outgoing high court judge Ardian Dvorani, the head of the Socialist parliamentary group, Gramoz Ruci, said the consultation process was a purely "formal" matter and not in accordance with the law.

Amid talk of a third, Croat entity in Bosnia, a Bosnian Croat leader has said that another solution would be reorganising the current Federation entity, with its 10 cantons, into three larger units.

Dragan Covic, head of the Croatian Democratic Union, HDZ, the largest Croat party in Bosnia, said that the Federation entity should be reorganised into three units, which he said would strengthen Bosnia and Herzegovina and prevent its disintegration.

KABUL (Pajhwok): The final result of ongoing negotiations between presidential candidates Abdul Qayum Karzai and Zalmai Rassoul to join forces is expected to be announced tomorrow, an aide to the President Karzai’s older brother said on Wednesday.

Dr. Habibi, who campaigns for Qayum, confirmed to Pajhwok the negotiations were ongoing between their leader and Rassoul, a former foreign minister. He said the final decision on making an alliance between the two was expected to be announced on Thursday.

MP’s welcome govt. decision over conferences in Baidoa

Members of the Somali Parliament of the Federal government of Somalia have welcomed the official decision made by the government on the various rival conferences going on in Baidoa, one of them that have already been concluded.

Mr Macalin Jiis, one of the MP’s commented to Radio Shabelle in Mogadishu that the government is supporting the right path for federalism which in this case is the formation of the 3 region statebeing created in Baidoa.
