The Gerindra Party reported an additional Rp 122 billion (US$10.5 million) in campaign funds to the General Elections Commission (KPU), on Sunday. In its first report, Gerindra said it had Rp 184 billion.

“So, the Gerindra campaign fund totals Rp 306 billion in two reports filed with the KPU. The campaign funds are 100 percent from the party’s current legislative candidates,” Gerindra Party treasurer Thomas Djiwandono said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

This year Gerindra’s campaign fund is around Rp 3 billion less than the previous election, which stood at Rp 308.77 billion, data shows.

Thomas said it took time to submit the campaign fund report as the party had to compile financial reports of legislative candidates, which reached 560 people, filed with the party.

He said the Gerindra executive board had a special campaign fund account at Bank Mandiri and the account was opened when the party announced it would participate in the 2014 election.

“Our initial balance was Rp 27 billion if I’m not mistaken,” said Thomas. He said 70 percent of the 560 legislative candidates had their campaign funds filed with the party.

The KPU set March 2 as the deadline for all political parties to report their campaign budgets.
