The General Elections Commission (KPU) has removed hundreds of thousands of voters considered ineligible from the final voter list (DPT) for the 2014 legislative election.

On Nov. 4, 2013, the KPU recorded the number of eligible voters at 186,172,508. That number had fallen to 185,822,507 by Feb.15.

“They were removed because they were no longer considered eligible,” said KPU chairman Husni Kamil Manik in a plenary meeting on the DPT at KPU headquarters on Tuesday, as quoted by kompas.com.

He said the commission had also added voters it later found to be eligible to the DPT.

Though the KPU said the DPT was finalized on Feb.15, it continued to update voter data until Wednesday. It has said no more changes will be made.

From Nov. 4, 2013, to Feb.15, 202,280 names were ruled ineligible. This total included 108,450 names of deceased persons, 661 police and soldiers (both of which are ineligible) and 635 underage voters.
