The General Elections Commission (KPU) has delayed the legalization of vote recapitulation results from 130 Overseas Election Committees (PPLNs) as D1 forms from 10 PPLNs have yet to arrive in Indonesia, a commissioner has said.

“As many as 130 PPLNs have completed the recapitulation of votes; however, original D1 forms from 10 PPLNs have not yet arrived at KPU headquarters,” KPU commissioner Ferry Kurnia Rizkiyansyah said on the sidelines of an open plenary meeting of a vote recapitulation in Jakarta on Sunday, as quoted by Antara news agency.

Despite the absence of the original documents, the KPU and the PPLNs completed on Saturday the vote counting and recapitulation processes for the DKI Jakarta II electoral district, which comprised votes from Central Jakarta, South Jakarta and overseas voters.

“During the recapitulation of votes from the PPLNs in the plenary meeting yesterday, the overseas voting results obtained by the PPLN Working Group at the Foreign Ministry were read out via their diplomatic cables. Now, we are waiting for the original documents to compare the results,” Ferry added.

KPU chairman Husni Kamil Manik said he hoped the D1 forms would arrive in Jakarta on Monday, after which the commission would conduct a national vote recapitulation for the Jakarta electoral district.

“The legalization of the vote recapitulation result for the DKI Jakarta electoral district will be delayed until Monday. It is scheduled for that day, if all the documents have been received by the PPLN Working Group,” Husni said.

The national recapitulation plenary meeting began on Saturday and is due to be completed within the next nine days.

The ballot counting at the national level will be divided into three groups; it is estimated that each group will complete its recapitulation within three days.

Vote-counting for the western half of Indonesia is set to be completed on Monday, followed by central Indonesia Tuesday through Thursday, and eastern Indonesia Friday through Sunday.
