The Constitutional Court (MK) refused to process 196 cases of legislative election disputes on Wednesday evening.

Lawsuits on 192 disputes were filed by political parties, while the remainder were from individual candidates.

“The cases will not be continued to authentication examinations,” said presiding judge Hamdan Zoelva in reading out the interlocutory verdict on the 2014 legislative election dispute cases at the court as quoted bytribunnews.com.

Of a total 192 cases, 54 lawsuits were from the Crescent Star Party, followed by the Gerindra Party (23), the United Development Party (21), the Golkar Party (20), National Mandate Party (17), the Hanura Party (15), the Democratic Party (14), the National Awakening Party (12), the NasDem Party (7), the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (6), the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (2) and one case from the Prosperous Justice Party.

The court said it had refused to process the cases due to various reasons, such as the absence of evidence in lawsuit documents, lawsuits submitted after the deadline, and documents submitted without approval from the chairmen and secretary-generals of their respective parties.

Hamdan said the court would now process 695 election dispute cases and hearing sessions would be continued on Friday.

The hearings will be divided into three sessions, the first session from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., the second session from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the third session 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Hamdan said three panels would handle the cases. The first panel will question witnesses and hold authentication examinations of election disputes in the electoral district of DKI Jakarta, while the second panel will handle cases from the electoral district of North Sumatra. The third panel will process election disputes from West Java and South Kalimantan.

The court will limit the number of witnesses to testify in the sessions to only three people.
