La Somalie s´engage tant bien que mal dans un périlleux processus électoral, qui doit voir la renaissance d´un Etat après un quart de siècle de guerre civile. Près de 14 000 délégués sont appelés au vote pour désigner les députés qui siégeront l´Assemblée nationale du pays, tandis que les Etats fédérés doivent désigner les futurs sénateurs de la Chambre aute. Les deux Assemblées sont censées se réunir le 30 novembre pour élire le président de la République fédérale de Somalie.

Existing and emerging Federal states were expected to announce the Upper House candidates before October 10, an extended deadline by Somalia’s electoral body.

In a major blow to the electoral process, clan elders and Somali government officials–term ended in September 10- including Deputy Prime Minister and Federal parliamentarians have denounced seats quota of both Federal Parliament Houses for Somaliland region, describing it “unfair” and undermine efforts aimed to unite the country.

The federal government of Somalia has completely ruled out planned 2016 general elections in the country.

The parliament said that one man one vote is not possible in the war torn state following a meeting in the capital Mogadishu on Tuesday in which Wednesday's "The New Deal" meeting was also discussed.

The 25 member committee chairman tasked by the government Abdullahi Godah Barre has read three point agreement between the parliament and cabinet paving way the ruled out of one man one vote come next year 2016.

Jubaland Admin Refuses to Attend New-Deal Forum

Somalia's Interim Jubaland administrative parliamentarians have refused to attend New Deal forum which was scheduled to be held on Wednesday in Mogadishu.

The lawmakers from Interim Jubaland told Shabelle Media that its administrative constitution had been prepared amid its preparation was took part by international experts.

The summit was also boycotted by Somalia's semi-autonomous Puntland leader, Abduwali Mohamed Ali Gaas, says he had not been satisfied for any manner of the meeting.

UN Envoy to Somalia hails election of speaker of regional assembly

The United Nations envoy for Somalia commended the completion of the establishment of the assembly of Galmudug, a region located in the center of the country.

“The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia Nicholas Kay welcomed the election of the Speaker of the Galmudug…by members of the assembly in Adaado, on 27 June,” said a statement issued this morning by the UN Assistance Mission in the country (UNSOM), whicj Mr. Kay heads.

AMISOM Trains Somali Government Officials in Election Management

Senior officials of the Federal Government of Somalia have completed a two-week course on elections management, at the Kofi Annan International Peace Training Centre, in Accra Ghana.

The training facilitated by the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), aimed at equipping the participants with the principles and processes in elections management, ahead of planned elections in 2016.

Somali Government Spokesman Ridwaj Haji Abdiweli has announced his resignation from the office he was holding for the past two years. Abdiweli who announced his decision through his official twitter account cited undisclosed personal issue as the main reason.

"I want to announce my resignation as the government spokesman and media adviser to the prime minister of Somalia, it was great honor for me for the past two years to serve my country which is experiencing great challenge," he said in a letter sent to newsrooms.

Somalia’s Prime Minister, said in an interview with VOA Somalia service that government would soon take over held Al Shabaab areas in south of Somalia’s lower and middle Juba regions, Shabelle reports.

PM Sharmarke said that his government is launching very big operation to re-capture militants held areas in a bid to bring them back to Somalia army.

Meanwhile, Mr. Sharmaarke stressed that it a dispute between his authorities and Interim Juba administration would be solved after Somali parliament ousted regional Jubaland representatives’ council in a vote of no-confidence.

Somalia’s Jubaland breaks off relations with central government

Somalia’s interim Jubaland administration said on Saturday it had cut all ties with the central government in a likely setback to efforts to pacify the Horn of Africa Country.

The move comes after Somalia Parliament ousted Jubbaland regional Parliament in a vote of no-confidence on Saturday.

There was no immediate response from the federal government based in Mogadishu.

Somalia lawmakers debated again a motion against Jubaland MPs

Somalia’s members of parliament have on Tuesday debated a motion against newly established interim Juba administrative Jubaland lawmakers during parliament session for the second day in Mogadishu.

The debating of the motion caused to be divided into three parts by Somalia lawmakers in the course of the session. Numbers of MPs agreed to debate the motion; others refused its discussion while rest lawmakers called for stabilizing situation and to reach solution.

Puntland Regional State Propose Vote of No Confidence Against Cabinet

More than 21 Puntland regional state assembly members have signed petition against the regional state cabinet.

The members are pushing for vote of no confidence against the President Abdiweli Gas cabinet which they said is under performing.

In the letter to the speaker of the regional state assembly signed by more than 21 members they cited issues to do with security, economy and political failure by the cabinet.
