La aprobación de la nueva Constitución del Egipto post-revolucionario ha sido un proceso accidentado y tortuoso. La primera Asamblea Constituyente, rechazada por los laicos por contener una aplastante mayoría islamista, fue disuelta por los tribunales en abril. Inmediatamente, el Parlamento aprobó un nuevo comité, algo más equilibrado, pero aún dominado por los islamistas. En consecuencia, el contenido de la nueva Carta Magna responde a los designios de esta corriente, y en concreto, de los Hermanos Musulmanes.

DOHA QATAR Leadership Centre (QLC) held an orientation day for 35 participants of the newly launched current and future executive leaders programme 2012-2013.  The orientation session was held at the Four Seasons Hotel, in Doha, recently, where Sheikh Dr Abdulla bin Ali al Thani, board member and executive director of QLC outlined the programme goals, structure and QLC vision to the new participants.

Muscat: The Majlis  Al Shura yesterday voted its approval of the Economic and Financial Committee's report on the State Draft Budget for the fiscal year 2013. 

Earlier, discussions were held between Majlis Al Shura members and Darwish bin Ismail Al Balushi, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs.

KUWAIT: The Interior Ministry yesterday issued a permit to the organizers of the opposition demonstration on Friday, one day before the Dec 1 election. The opposition has decided to stage the demonstration in protest against holding the election on the basis of the amended electoral law. Interior Ministry spokesman Col Adel Al-Hashash told a press conference yesterday that the ministry issued the permit after it found that the application submitted by the organizers met the conditions set by the ministry, mainly that the demonstration must be peaceful.

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf Tuesday expressed satisfaction that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has completed arrangements for holding the general election in the country.

 The Prime Minister made these remarks while talking to Secretary Election Commission Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan here at the PM House.

 The Secretary Election Commission informed the Prime Minister that a code of conduct has also been prepared by the Election Commission prohibiting display of weapons during election campaign.

 The Prime Minister appreciated the decision.

As Egypt gears up for further protests, divisions over President Mohamad Morsi's recent decrees to solidify his power have had a polarising effect on the judiciary, one of the country's most sacred institutions.

Morsi's declaration has led to a judicial boycott by some judges, while others say what the president is doing is justified, and those refusing to hear cases are playing politics.
