The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Saturday said that the delay in announcing the final results has no link to the presidential candidates' talks and that the election process moving forward normally.
IEC spokesman Noor Mohammad Noor said that the reason for the delay in announcing the final results is due to the technicalities of the election process.
"There are technical works that are being completed, such as entering the checklists into the system," Noor said reassuring the public.
The IEC said that a decision will be made in regards to the 7,000 polling sites currently going through the vote invalidation process. On Friday the commission announced the conclusion of the audit process after 48 days.
Presently, IEC employees are working to finish entering the checklists into the database, according to IEC's Secretariat Chief, Ahmad Jawid Habibi.
"About 21,000 checklists have been reviewed, of which 20,000 have completed the eight steps, which determines if the checklist can be entered into the system or not, and will soon be archived," he said.
Just a few days ago, Noor had said that the final results will be announced sooner than the United Nations announced—September 10. But as the date slowly creeps up, the announcement made by him seems very impractical. The IEC has the nation sitting at the edge of their seats in anticipation for a new president, in hopes that he can pull the nation out of this political uncertainty.
