The Independent Election Commission (IEC) has finalized the "operational plan" for the upcoming presidential elections which shows that the polls will cost $207 million, a spokesman of the electoral body said. However, the commission earlier predicted that the elections will need $192 million.
The Ghazni parliamentary elections, as well as the provincial councils' elections, will be held on the same day with the presidential polls scheduled for September 28.
ISLAMABAD - Officials in Afghanistan have delayed the country's presidential election for a second time, setting Sept. 28 as the new date. They also announced Wednesday that provincial council elections in all 34 Afghan provinces would be held on the same date.

The Independent Election Complaints Commission’s (IECC) spokesman Ali Reza Rohani on Thursday announced seven more candidates have been disqualified.
The IECC spokesman said the seven candidates were disqualified for various reasons. Some had criminal records, others were found to be ineligible and one had Iranian citizenship, he said.
According to him, the disqualified candidates were from 6 different provinces.
Two were from Herat and one each from Wardak, Farah, Kunduz, Ghor and Balk provinces.
KABUL, 14 oct (Xinhua) -- Ante la proximidad de las elecciones parlamentarias en Afganistán, el Ministerio del Interior anunció el despliegue de 50.000 guardias para garantizar la seguridad del proceso electoral.
"El gobierno ha decidido desplegar 50.000 tropas en otras partes del país para brindar seguridad en las próximas elecciones", dijo el vocero del ministerio, Najib Danish, a los reporteros en conferencia de prensa en Kabul.
Danish también dijo que más tropas permanecerán alertas para enfrentar cualquier eventualidad el día de la elección.
Officials from the Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Sunday said they have issued over 200,000 accreditation cards to national and international observers and organizations, including the Afghan election watchdog organizations.
IEC spokesman Sayed Hafizullah Hashemi said 19 people who have received the cards are international observers who will monitor and oversee October 20 parliamentary elections.
Hashemi said a large number of these observers are volunteers who will work at polling stations to prevent fraud and electoral violations.
