PKR polls: Azmin still in the lead as elections head into final weekend

PETALING JAYA: Incumbent PKR deputy president Azmin Ali (pic) is still leading in the race for the No. 2 post at the end of the second week of the ongoing party polls.

The election committee announced on Friday that Azmin had obtained 9876 votes to date in the race for the deputy presidency, with Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim in second spot with 6217 votes. Saifuddin Nasution who was in second place last week, dropped to third, having obtained just 5717 votes.

Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar is leading 14 candidates in the race for four vice-presidents posts with 13,312 votes obtained while running mate Rafizi Ramli is currently in third with 10,561 votes. Tian Chua is in second place with 11,845 votes, while Baru Bian is fourth with 7210 votes.

For a supreme council spot, Fariz Musa, Latheefa Koya, Elizabeth Wong, Christina Liew, Ali Anak Biju, Sim Tze Tzin, William Leong Jee Keen, Gooi Hsiao Leung, Abdul Yunus Jamahri, Dr Yaakob Sapari, Zamri Yusof, Siti Aishah Shaik Ismail, Hee Loy Sian, Shuhaimi Haji Shafiei, Datuk Haji Abdul Halim Hussain, Azmizam Zaman Huri, Khalid Jaafar, Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid, Dr Roland Chia Ming Shen, Choong Shiau Yoon, Zakaria Abdul Hamid, Zahir Hassan, Mohamad Imran Abdul Hamid, S. Kesavan, and M.Ravi currently fill the top 25 places.

 

In the battle for the PKR Youth Chief post, Batu Caves assemblyman Amirudin Shari is holding firm to his lead with 1619 votes. However, challenger Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has closed in with 1540 votes obtained. Mohd Nazree is currently in third with 1036 votes.

For the post of party Wanita chief, Zuraida Kamaruddin has garnered 3180 votes so far while her rival, incumbent deputy Wanita vice Rodziah Ismail has obtained 2626 votes.

The PKR elections, which started on April 26 will conclude on May 11. The final election results will be announced on May 13.
