SHAH ALAM: PKR’s S. Manikavasagam (pic) says he is unsure if he has been suspended by the party as he has yet to be formally informed.
The former Kapar MP, who is contesting against Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim for the post of Kuala Selangor PKR division chief, claimed that he only received an SMS from a colleague on Thursday stating that he had been dropped and would not be allowed to contest in the ongoing party polls.
“I am not sure of my position in the party now but if it is true that I’m sacked or suspended, none of the people from my camp will contest in the re-election,” he said, Thursday.
Manikavasagam is believed to have been suspended after alleging that the Selangor Mentri Besar had, through a third party, paid voters RM50 each for their support.
“I did not say if the person giving money was Khalid. I only said it was one of his men,” Manikavasagam said.
The former Kapar MP also lashed out at PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the party election committee for not making a clear stand on the matter despite news reports carrying his allegation.
Manikavasagam, who is a PKR life member, said he would wait for an official letter before making a statement on his next move.
On Wednesday night, the PKR political bureau held a meeting to discuss several key matters including the ongoing party polls, after 12 out of 22 division elections were called off last Sunday.
Khalid has however kept mum about what transpired at the meeting, telling the press only that Anwar would make an announcement soon and that party members have been asked to refrain from speaking about the meeting.
