A member of the Golkar Party said youngsters nowadays were more politically aware and would vote on election day.
The coordinator of the Epicenter of Nationalism (CenSa), the Golkar Party’s youth wing organization, Andrew Prasatya said the upcoming election offered the youth the opportunity to be involved in politics.
"Abstainers [will] only destroy the pillars of our democracy. This is the time to take a stand for the nation’s future, he said as quoted by tribunnews.com on Saturday.
According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) as many as 21.8 million people between the ages of 17 and 21 will be first time voters this year.
