Morsi deroga el decreto que le concedía amplios poderes

El presidente egipcio, Mohamed Morsi, ha anulado el decreto presidencial del 22 de noviembre por el que se blindaba tanto él como la Asamblea Constituyente ante cualquier sentencia judicial. Morsi ya había decidido modificar esta declaración constitucional que le otorgaba amplios poderes y que está en el origen del conflicto que sacude el país desde hace más de dos semanas.

En avril 2012, à propos des élections législatives et municipale en Mauritanie, le président de la République, Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz avait dit : « Nous ne retardons pas les élections pour le plaisir de les retarder, mais pour qu’ii y ait le maximum de transparence, ces élections auront lieu peut être bien avant la fin de l’année. »

La Mauritanie avance de 20 points dans le classement de Transparency International

La Mauritanie a remonté dans le classement annuel de Transparency International. Elle a quitté le 143e rang qu’elle occupait en 2011, pour occuper le 123e rang mondial en 2012, soit une remontée de 20 points. Ce qui la place au 12e rang dans le Monde Arabe.

Dans une autre échelle, graduée en 100 points, la Mauritanie est notée 31 sur 100. L’avance vers 100 indique un progrès, alors qu’une régression vers zéro indique une mauvaise tendance. Cette année le classement inclut 176 pays.

Opposition against unproductive Dialogue: Siniora

Former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora said Friday the opposition was against Dialogue that leads to nowhere and not to the principle of all-party talks, according to a statement from his office.

“The March 14 boycott to dialogue is not a rejection to dialogue but opposition to unproductive talks in light of the security threats surrounding [the country],” said Siniora.

Turquía y Rusia han convenido una 'hoja de ruta' para el "cambio político"en Siria, en el marco de unas reuniones entre diplomáticos de ambos países para tratar de poner fin al conflicto sirio.

   El Kremlin también lo ha confirmado y ha especificado que delegaciones de Turquía y Rusia "comenzarán pronto a trabajar en nuevas ideas" para resolver la guerra civil en Siria, según ha informado el diario turco 'Hurriyet'.

 Political parties in the House of Representatives (DPR) remain at odds on setting the threshold of support needed to nominate a presidential candidate in 2014.

Under the 2008 presidential election law, presidential candidates must be supported by a party or a coalition of parties that secured 25 percent of the popular vote or 20 percent of the seats in the House in the previous election.

It is now almost three years since Najib Abdul Razak took over from Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as prime minister.

He has performed a slew of legislative reforms, set out major economic and education plans but has not yet taken the step to call for Malaysia's 13th general election.

Following the timeframe the constitution sets out, Najib has the autonomy to call elections before April 21, after which the Elections Commission has the prerogative and must call elections within 60 days.

Kuwait’s new parliament will hold its first session on December 16, two weeks after the elections were held despite calls by the opposition to boycott them.

Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah has launched consultations with former parliament speakers and former premier Shaikh Nasser Al Mohammad on the name of the prime minister amid speculations that Shaikh Jaber Al Mubarak Al Sabah would be asked to remain at the position he has held since late last year.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday called on the people to give their full mandate to the Barisan Nasional (BN) government for another five-year term to secure a better future for themselves and the country.

Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç has said he doesn't expect his Justice and Development Party (AK Party) will take a group decision on the issue of lifting the immunity of several pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) deputies.
 
 “Every deputy will give his or her own decision,” Arınç said on Sunday, commenting on a recent statement by AK Party deputy Galip Ensarioğlu, who said 60 AK Party deputies would vote against removing the immunity of the BDP deputies.

Kuwait Cabinet quits in post-election formality – Opposition to stage post-election demo

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah yesterday accepted the resignation of the Cabinet submitted by Prime Minsiter Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah in a measure required under the constitution.

The Amir asked the premier and other ministers to continue as a care-taker government until the new Cabinet is formed. Under Kuwaiti law, the Cabinet must resign after the announcement of the parliamentary election results and a new Cabinet must be formed before the National Assembly holds its first session which must be within two weeks of the results.

A team of international observers, which was invited by the Kuwait Transparency Society (KTS) to Kuwait to observe the Dec 1 elections, finished its report and made certain recommendations which were made public yesterday by the Ministry of Information.

The Undersecretary of Ministry of Information, Sheikh Salman Al-Homoud Al- Sabah, expressed his satisfaction at the conduct of elections that reflected the functioning democracy in Kuwait.

Win for minorities in controversial Kuwait elections

Kuwait’s boycott-hit elections on Sunday registered a 40 per cent turnout, with minorities making significant gains and both the government and the opposition claiming victory.

Minorities and previously under-represented groups made significant gains following a controversial emergency decree issued by the emir that reduced the number of candidates a voter can elect from four to one.
