The normal parliamentarian session was today held at the public hall in Mogadishu where almost 200 Mps attended and chaired by national assembly speaker.

The 200 Mps debated on the recently proposed motion brought forward by some parliamentarians to vote against the prime minister and his cabinet.

The speaker of the national assembly presented the opening speech followed by the motion. He said that 5 days ago 93 Mps forwarded a motion but 80 of them withdrew their support for the motion yesterday. “I received an official letter yesterday signed by 80 Mps withdrawing their support for the motion”

He said 13 Mps still supported the motion and therefore it did not affect the cabinet. “Referring to the constitution, I urge the Pm and his cabinet to continue with their work”.

One of the 93 Mps who proposed the motion speaking to the parliament said that they chose to withdraw their support for the motion after they carefully observed the situation of the country and the work done by some ministers.

A large number of Mps recently forwarded a motion seeking a vote of no confidence against the cabinet but that mission has been derailed after a large number of them withdrew their support.
