Barisan Nasional components should look at new approaches and strategies to keep abreast with the demands of the younger generation, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.

The Prime Minister said these were measures that Barisan members could take in adapting to the new political landscape while strengthening the ruling coalition.

"We are constantly reminded that the current political scenario requires some adaptation in terms of our thought to address the demands of the younger generation, he said in his message for the upcoming Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) delegates conference from Oct 21.

In this regard, the Prime Minister said he was confident that PBS leaders and members could adapt themselves to the new political landscape.

Najib said apart from meeting the demands of the younger generation, PBS and other Barisan components should also look at strategies to strengthen the cooperation among the communities.

"We must continually build on the foundations that go back 50 years," he added.

Thanking PBS leaders and members for their contributions to Barisan's victory in the 13th general election, he said, the party led by Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan had demonstrated its loyalty and unrelentless contributions to the coalition.

He said the key to Barisan'ss success had been the understanding and cooperation apart from the give-and-take spirit among the component partners.

"We now need to focus on Barisan's future. We need to work hard to make Barisan a strong political vessel that remained relevant to all races in the country," Najib said.
