Prime Minister Habib Essid decided, as he chaired a Cabinet meeting Wednesday, to dissolve 28 municipal councils and replace them by special delegations, through the adoption of 28 decrees.
Spokesman for the Cabinet meeting, Ahmed Zarrouk said this measure concerns the municipalities of Zahret Mediene, Fernana, Redeyef, Boumerdes, Beni Hassen, Lamta, Menzel Hayet, Touza, Ghanneda and Medhila. It also involves the municipalities of Hergla, Touiref, Goubellat, Sidi Bou Ali, Sidi El Hani, Bouficha, Nabeul, Kondar, Teboursouk, Akouda, Kalaa Kebira, Menzel Temime, Grombalia, Kelibia, Somaa and Beja.
The Cabinet meeting also approved two draft decrees on the appointment of special delegations in Tataouine and Kasserine.
"New measures on the dissolution of other municipal councils and their replacement by special delegations are expected," he added.
Ahmed Zarrouk also said the Cabinet meeting approved two draft decrees on expropriation in the public interest.
The Cabinet meeting also focused on the tragic accident that occurred Tuesday at El Fahs, Governorate of Zaghouan (train collision with lorry) and resulted in several deaths and injuries.
The meeting stressed the need to upgrade the transport sector in general and the rail transport, in particular, calling to revise safety standards to ensure passenger transport under the best conditions.
