(TAP) - The Mourakiboun Network and the Tunisian Association for the Integrity and Democracy of Elections (ATIDE) published on Tuesday the detailed results of the first day of the registration operation on the electoral register for the 2017 municipal elections.

Both associations noted gaps in the publication of lists of registration centres and offices that were set up by the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE).

A team of "Mourakiboun" composed of 19 observers visited 37 registration centres across the different governorates of the Republic and noted significant shortcomings relating in particular to the absence of signpost offices.

In turn, ATIDE mobilised some 300 observers throughout the country and noted the weakness of the campaign to raise awareness about the electoral operation in addition to the lack of human and material resources in certain offices.

Placed under the sign : "Let's all vote on December 17", the operation of registration on the electoral register for the 2017 municipal elections had started Monday and will continue until August 10.

Some 633 registration centres and nearly 1,000 mobile offices are open throughout the country employing 1,751 registration officers in addition to 350 sensitising agents.
