Madani Tall, ancien conseiller du président Amdou Toumani Touré, non moins président du parti Avenir pour le Développement du Mali (Adm), a rencontré la presse, hier dans le cadre de la traditionnelle causerie qu’il a instaurée avec les médias. Avec ses interlocuteurs, le candidat malheureux aux dernières élections législatives dans la circonscription électorale de Tombouctou a fait un large tour d’horizon de l’actualité brûlante.

 Décidément ce gouvernement semble avoir la plus grande peine à respecter les échéances électorales dont il a responsabilité.

NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Noting progress in talks with the Taliban on Friday, Maulana Samiul Haq said that the next stage in talks, for the government peace talks committee to directly negotiate with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leadership, had been green-lighted.

Haq briefed the media in Akora Khattak after being briefed behind closed doors by Professor Ibrahim and Maulana Yousuf Shah (TTP nominated peace talks committee).

Prof Ibrahim and Maulana Shah had returned on Friday after having met the Majlis-e-Shura of the Taliban in Waziristan.

Second Vice President Muhammad Karim Khalili spoke of the government's commitment to holding transparent and just elections in April at a gathering on Friday.

The gathering was held to commemorate the 19th anniversary of the death of Ali Mazari, a Jihadi leader who was killed by the Taliban. However, most of the speeches at the event, like Kahilili's, were related to the upcoming elections, which are expected to be pivotal in determining the future of the country as the NATO combat mission comes to an end after 13 years of war.

After the recent events in Ukraine Kyrgyz opposition members were inspired somehow and even held several meetings in late February. Recently a meeting of supporters of a new political force - the National opposition movement took placein Bishkek, which brought together famous politicians, who joined the opposition and mostly former officials.

Critics of the military takeover here often say the generals’ promise of free elections is little more than a bad joke. Now a prominent former military man who cheered the takeover seems to agree: Ahmed Shafik, a former general and prime minister and the runner-up in the last presidential election, has called it a “farce.”

Mr. Shafik had not planned on making his opinion quite so public. But these days in Egypt, conversations are often not as private as they seem.

Les députés ont procédé, le lundi 10 mars 2014, au cours de la séance plénière,  à l’élection des députés membres de la Haute cour de justice, du Parlement panafricain, de celui de la Cedeao et du CIP-Uemoa. Ce travail est le résultat de plusieurs heures de tractations entre la majorité et l’opposition parlementaires au terme desquelles les deux parties ont accordé leurs violons sur les nominations personnelles au CIP-Uemoa.

Sept mois après sa défaite à l’élection  présidentielle de 2013, Dramane Dembélé est sorti de son mutisme. A cette fin, le candidat malheureux de l’Adema Pasj à l’élection présidentielle du 28 juillet dernier a accordé une interview à notre confrère de “Les Echos” dans laquelle l’intéressé dit tout sans faux-fuyant.
