Longtemps attendu par les uns et les autres depuis la fin des législatives, le remaniement ministériel n’aura plus lieu avant longtemps. Ainsi l’a décidé le chef de l’Etat. « Je n’ai dit à personne que je rémanierai le gouvernement; vaquez donc à vos occupations au lieu de squatter les salons des marabouts ! », a dit le chef de l’Etat à quelques ministres.

Three opposition parties have agreed to appeal to the office of the Parliament Speaker for an extraordinary session in order to read out a summary of proceedings regarding four former members of the Cabinet over a massive corruption and graft probe. 

The Republican People’s Party (CHP), which has 134 seats at Parliament called on the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) with their 52 and 26 seats respectively, to support its move to convene Parliament in an extraordinary session before the local elections.

Turkish President Gül urges measures to accelerate trials

The president has complained about the lengthy process of trials, which led to the release of some defendants, citing the Hezbollah case.

“Lengthy detentions turned into punishments. It’s not acceptable to not make a decision over such a long amount of time,” President Abdullah Gül said on March 11, speaking at a joint press conference with Nigerien President Mahamadou Issoufou.

U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gülen locked in a feud with the Turkish government has likened Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoğan's grip on power to that of the once-dominant military, and warned that political and economic reforms of the past decade are under threat. 

In a rare written political commentary, Pennsylvania-based preacher Gülen said Erdoğan had lost trust at home and abroad because of measures such as curbs on Internet freedom, greater government control of the courts and stronger powers for the intelligence agency.

M. Laid Hadji, président de l’assemblée populaire de la wilaya (APW) de Annaba a été désigné, aujourd’hui mardi, pour assurer la mission de directeur de la campagne électorale des présidentielles du 17 avril prochain au profit du président sortant Abdelaziz Bouteflika dans la wilaya de Annaba.

C’est qu’a indiqué un document officiel signé par Amar Saâdani le secrétaire général du parti FLN dont nous détenons une copie. Au départ, ils étaient trois personnes en course pour ce poste, très convoité pour l’avenir politique de son occupant.

Le président de l’institution, l’honorable Issiaka Sidibé   veut conscientiser les députés dans ce sens. Lors de la séance plénière d’hier, le titulaire du perchoir a exigé un contrôle rigoureux des présences.

» On est venu ici pour travailler. Cela ne coûte absolument rien de répondre à haute voix présent. Cela fait marrer des gens. Si vous pensez qu’on est député pour s’amuser, cela ne sera pas le cas. Si on ne veut pas travailler comme digne représentant du peuple, on peut simplement démissionner « , a-t-il martelé.

Opposition MHP leader accuses PM Erdoğan of establishing own media

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli has accused Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of shaping media groups to serve his political interests after doing away with the democratic principle of separation of powers.
“After subordinating the legislative, the executive and the judiciary to himself, the prime minister is forming, by the exertion of pressure on the media, media groups that will serve his purposes,” Bahçeli said at his party's local election rally in Tokat on Tuesday.  

Macedonia Leads Balkans in Women MPs

Data from the World Bank show that Macedonia leads the western Balkan region in terms of gender equality when it comes to the percentage of women MPs in parliament.

According to the World Bank, 34.1 per cent of Macedonia’s parliament is made up of women MPs - the highest quota in the region.  

Serbia comes second in the region with 33.2 per cent, while Kosovo is close behind, with 31 per cent.

Fahim always promoted national interest: Karzai

KABUL (Pajhwok): President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday called late Vice-President Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim as a man of principles and a good partner of him on important national interest issues.

After presiding over the state funeral service for the late VP, Karzai said his longtime and all-weather friend had departed forever.  He called Fahim a brother, who spent his entire life in the service of his country.

No proposal under consideration for Taliban office

ISLAMABAD: Neither is there any proposal under consideration nor any request made for an office for the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the upper house of parliament was informed a day after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan said that no such move will be made without consultation of the federal government.

The issue was brought to the limelight by a call attention notice by senators of the Awami National Party (ANP) regarding the offer to the Taliban to set up an office in Peshawar by Minister of Health Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Shaukat Yousufzai.
