Call for legal control on cyber crime

Under the patronage of Lt. General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the fifth International Cyber Crimes Conference has started in Abu Dhabi in conjunction with the International Exhibition for Security and National Resilience (ISNR Abu Dhabi 2014). 

 

The event is organised by the Ministry of Interior and Institute of Training and Judicial Studies, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) and the National Electronic Security Authority (NESA).

Members of judicial, police and security authorities; university professors; law and information technology (IT) students; legal consultants from government and private sectors; representatives of government and private technology institutions and social institutions participated in the conference.

Major-General Humaid Al Hadidi, Chief of Sharjah Police, said the wide-spread use of e-trade mandates the formulation of legal controls in order to protect the rights of individuals and business owners. “The relevant authorities in the UAE have made steady strides in the development of laws relating to information technology. There are a lot of tangible results in this regard.”

He noted that cyber crimes affect all countries around the world and have become a major security concern that threatens societies.
