Elders and intellectuals residing in Yaqshid of the Benadir region have publicized their criticism of the new district administration.
The elders contacted Radio Shabelle in Mogadishu and described that district officials fabricated documents to collect taxes from residents in Yaqshid.
“Most officials appointed to a position in the new district administration defraud us of our money.” Said Mohamud Ali Mohamud, a peacebuilder
Furthermore, Ahmed Mohamud Ali an intellectual elder of the Yaqshid district explained that that the biggest cases of corruption in the district are at their office in Towfiq.
Although the Benadir regional administrations are currently in the process of replacing district commissioners, no change has been reported in the cases of fraud the elders and intellectuals in Yaqshid are complaining of.
