Abu Dhabi: Without embarking on a political campaign, a potential Federal National Council (FNC) member, Fatima Al Zaabi, is making it her aim to attest to the UAE and the wider society that one can accomplish a feat as well as rise to success merely through perseverance and hard work.

When asked about the different focal points that the 33-year old Abu-Dhabi based engineer aspires to concentrate on, Fatima revealed that she will not be concentrating on one particular sector as her desire is to solely address people’s daily challenges and concerns.

“I cannot tell you that I will be tackling particular fields such as health or education; it shouldn’t work this way. My main goal is to go to every single house in the UAE to visit families, look into their concerns and seek to escalate them to the respective entities across the UAE.”

“Also, another objective that I would like to work towards is to not only ensure that Emiratis are being looked after but also the rest of the nationalities, which is an aspect that the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan [may God have mercy upon him] used to always emphasise,” she added. When asked about the feasibility of executing this plan, Fatima said that she is willing to do all that it takes for transform her vision into reality, even if it entails spending up to a year visiting every house in the UAE.

She added that media publications nowadays have become both instrumental and influential in echoing people’s voices and concerns to the respective entities.

“The UAE’s leadership has always been very supportive and I am hoping that my request to visit residents’ houses will be made known to them through media’s coverage,” she explained.

Fatima added that the UAE is ranked among one of the happiest nations worldwide and she is keen to ensure that this is reflected in every resident, whether Emirati or non-Emirati, if she is fortunate enough to win a seat.

Despite the fact that she certainly has the financial capacity for a political campaign, Fatima said that the true meaning of success is achieving this through one’s own dedication and will.

“I want to win to lend a helping hand to those who need one and also prove that one can go far merely through their own hard work and perseverance,” she added.

When asked about her expectations ahead of the elections on October 3, Fatima said that she is hopeful about earning people’s votes, especially as a lot of her family members, friends and even acquaintances have already shown her unwavering support and are backing her until the very end.

The 33-year-old Emirati received recognition in 2014 from Microsoft for being the first Emirati female innovator in the world to design villas and buildings through PowerPoint.

The campaigning period runs up to September 30 for the FNC elections on October 3.

The preliminary results are expected to be announced on October 3, while the final list of winners will be declared on October 11, if no election run-offs are required.
