KARACHI:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) have announced their alliance on more than 80 per cent of the city’s seats for the third round of the local bodies’ polls.

“Karachi has been held hostage by political forces for years, which have never contributed towards the development of the city, but this time, the popularity of PTI and the strength of JI will win the local bodies poll,” said JI’s Karachi ameer, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Friday.

Rehman said the aim behind the alliance is to free the city from such forces, which are spreading hatred and intolerance. PTI Karachi president Ali Zaidi said the JI and PTI will not repeat the mistakes they made in the past. “None of us will leave the alliance,” announced Zaidi, adding that the JI and PTI would not fight each other, but if in some union committees the candidates from both the parties are contesting against each other, the voters of the specific area can decide who they should vote for.
