The March 2014 local elections hold historical significance for four political parties represented in the Parliament as it may bring about both the presidential elections five months later and the general elections scheduled for 2015 – if the date won’t be moved to an earlier one. 

El parlamento turco aprobó una legislación para restringir la venta y la publicidad de alcohol en el país.

El partido AKP, actualmente en el gobierno y con raíces en el Islam, dice que la ley protegerá a la población turca, particularmente los jóvenes, de los efectos nocivos del alcohol.

The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has offered to postpone discussions at Parliament’s Constitution Reconciliation Commission on its proposal for a presidential system to avoid obstructing the body’s work after the three opposition parties backed the continuation of the parliamentary system. 

The AKP has also suggested that their presidential system proposal for Turkey’s new Constitution could eventually be drafted with red lines from opposition parties, in other words, with reservations and parentheses.
