A lawmaker is pushing the government to immediately sign the bill containing revisions of the 2015 Regional Elections Law so that it can be used for public purposes.

The House of Representatives had passed the draft revision of the Regional Elections Law on June 2. However, the bill has not yet been signed into law and numbered by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's administration.

The Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan (IEC) said Thursday that the election management body is preparing to announce the schedule for the parliamentary and district council's elections.

This comes a week after the Afghan parliament rejected a presidential legislative decree on electoral reforms, a decision that has sparked strong reactions among the election monitors.

 Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah issued a statement decrying Israel's national water company Mekorot's decision to cut off water supplies to several Palestinian cities and villages.

Israel's head of military intelligence has said that Hizbullah should be wary of another war with Israel.

Marking 10 years since the monthlong 2006 summer war with Hizbullah, Maj. Gen. Herzi Halevi said Wednesday that Israel is more prepared than ever and that Hizbullah would suffer a great deal if it initiated another battle.

Speaking at the Herzliya Conference, Halevi said that if Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah "knew our abilities, our knowledge, our preparedness, he wouldn't risk another conflict."

Report accuses UN of loss of impartiality in Syria

A report released by rights group The Syria Campaign accuses the United Nations of delivering 99 percent of its aid to government-controlled territories, and calls on the UN to "restore its impartiality".
