Le Président du Mouvement Wafa, Abderraouf Ayadi, s'est attaqué aujourd'hui, mercredi 19 mars 2014, dans une conférence de presse à la politique du gouvernement actuel de Mehdi Jomaa. Ayadi a aussi déclaré que le Mouvement Ennahdha et les autres partis de la Troïka sont responsables du retour des RCDistes sur le devant de la scène politique.

Allawi questions integrity of parliamentary elections

Former Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi affirmed that the Iraqi parliamentary elections may not be held on April 30 as scheduled in light of the recent developments in the country.

A series of bombings targeted commercial infrastructure and security forces in Baghdad and its environs on Tuesday, killing at least 12 people. Car bombs were also reported in the holy city of Karbala, sacred to Shi’ites, and the southern town of Hafriyah, killing at least four others as the security situation across Iraq continues to deteriorate.

Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai met with President of the Central Maronite Council Wadih Khazen Tuesday to stress the need to hold a presidential election and avoid a political vacuum. 

“His Eminence confirmed the importance of preventing any vacuum in official positions in the country, whether political or administrative … stressing the need for and the importance of the transition to presidential elections,” Khazen said.

The University of Indonesia's Institute for Economic and Social Research (LPEM-UI) has estimated that the amount of money likely to circulate during this year, as a result of election fever, will reach Rp 115.3 trillion (US$10.15 billion).

It says most of the money will come from legislative election candidates, accounting for Rp 71.22 trillion or 62 percent of the total amount, while the government will spend Rp 25.12 trillion or 22 percent on the election.

Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) executive director Kuskridho Ambardi says the nomination of Joko “Jokowi” Widodo as a presidential candidate has had a positive impact on the electability of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).

Respondents of a survey conducted by the LSI said they would vote for the PDI-P if Jokowi was nominated as a president, he said.

PKS candidate gets 6 months for vote buying

A candidate vying for a seat in West Lampung Legislative Council (DPRD) has been sentenced to six months in prison for vote buying during campaigning, according to Election Supervisory Committee (Bawaslu) Lampung head Nazaruddin.

Nazaruddin said on Wednesday the candidate, endorsed by the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), was identified as ET. He added that the case was one of 150 campaign violations found by the committee.

The ruling National Congress Party (NCP) said that its chairman president Omer Hassan al-Bashir could be a neutral figure in the dialogue between the NCP and opposition parties should all sides agree on him as an authority for the process.

Badria Suleiman, a leading NCP figure, said at a political forum in Khartoum that the meetings that took place between Bashir and other political forces were made in his capacity as the president and not the NCP top man.

Jakarta. The Elections Supervisory Body, or Bawaslu, says it will question Anis Matta, the president of the Prosperous Justice Party, or PKS, over the alleged involvement of minors in a campaign rally.

“Based on evidence we have from our investigation, Anis Matta has deliberately involved underage individuals in the party’s campaign rally, therefore we plan to summon him and he will be sanctioned according to the law,” Muhammad, the Bawaslu chief, said on Tuesday.
