Blitar, East Java (ANTARA News) - General Chairman of the Peoples Conscience Party (Hanura) Wiranto began his partys campaign activities for the April 9 legislative elections in Blitar, East Java, on Sunday.

"Blitar is a superior city. Here in the city, Indonesias independence proclaimer is buried," Wiranto said in his oration marking the start of his partys campaign activities in Bagelenan village, Srengat Subdistrict, Blitar, on Sunday.

Le parti Al Amen, a confirmé lors d’un meeting populaire organisé à l’occasion de son deuxième anniversaire, son intention de prendre part aux prochaines élections présidentielles, législatives et municipales.

Those who leaked the alleged wiretapped phone calls of government, business and media figures have been identified, Deputy Prime Minister Beşir Atalay said on March 15.

Scores of wiretaps have been leaked online since the start of the Dec. 17 graft investigation and listened to by millions of people. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had confirmed the authenticity of some of the recordings, while rejecting the others as “montages.”

KARACHI: The provincial government locked horns with the federal government over who to appoint as the new Inspector General of Sindh, Express News  reported on Sunday.

The position of the top cop in the province has been vacant for almost a month since former IG Sindh Shahid Nadeem Baloch retired from the post on February 20.

Wardak pulls out of presidential race

KABUL (Pajhwok): Former defence minister Abdul Rahim Wardak on Sunday announced pulling out of the presidential election slated for April 5.

Addressing a news conference in Kabul, Wardak acknowledged his election campaign had been lackluster right from the word go.

The ex-minister thanked his choices for first and second vice-presidents, saying that his decision was not in favour of any specific contender.

Without giving any reason for his withdrawal from the contest, Wardak hoped the elections would be held on schedule in a free and transparent manner.

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) says that campaigning will not disrupt presidential candidate Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s duties as the Jakarta governor.

“Campaign activities will not be disturbing Jokowi’s duties as a governor as he will campaign only on Saturday and Sunday,” said PDI-P deputy secretary general Hasto Kristiyanto in Jakarta on Sunday, as quoted byAntara news agency.

He said the PDI-P had never asked Jokowi to campaign for the party on weekdays as this would disturb his work as Jakarta governor.

LB by-polls in Balochistan 5 districts underway

QUETTA: Local Bodies by-polls in the five districts of the province of Balochistan are being held today (Sunday), Geo News reported.

 

Provincial Election Commissioner, Syed Sultan Bayazed told that polling arrangements have been made at 39 polling stations of 32 wards in the LB by-polls underway at Pishin, Loralai, Qila Saifullah, Musakhel, and Kalat.

 

The re-polling started at 8.00 A.M. this morning to continue until 5.00 P.M. without break.

 

Heavy security arrangements have been made for smooth polling and to avert any untoward incident.

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N)’s senior leader Arbab Khizir Hayat Sunday said that no one’s name has yet been finalized for the Khyber Pukhtunkhaw Governor, Geo News reported.

 

He said that the Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif after consultations would decide about the nomination for the Governor slot.
