Alors que la campagne pour les élections municipales vient tout juste de débuter, des difficultés de couverture médiatique commencent à se faire sentir. Certains médias soumis à de nouvelles règles d'équité et de neutralité, jugées strictes, ont du mal à s'adapter.
Le rendez-vous du scrutin présidentiel de juillet prochain se précise de plus en plus, à en juger du moins par l’officialisation du chronogramme électoral par le gouvernement ainsi que par les assurances données par le Premier ministre. S’y ajoute aussi la flopée de déclarations de candidature même si celle de mastodontes comme l’ancien président de la transition, le Pr Dioncounda Traoré, est encore suspendue à une tragédie interne au sein du PASJ.

Speaker Nabih Berri announced Sunday that the current battle in the country is between “sectarianism and democracy.”
“The battle now is exactly between sectarianism and democracy,” Berri said during an annual gathering organized by the AMAL Movement for the Lebanese diaspora.

Egypt's parliament approved in a majority vote on Sunday a presidential decree extending for three months a nationwide state of emergency, state-owned MENA news agency reported. The ongoing state of emergency was extended by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Saturday for an additional three months starting 14 April.
The vote came following a speech by PM Sherif Ismail in front of the House where he presented reasons behind the extension.

The government is continuing to impose the state of emergency in a bid to crackdown on dissent in Turkey, main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said on April 13.

Ageela Saleh, head of the Tobruk-based House of Representatives (HoR), has welcomed the invitation of the newly appointed head of the Tripoli-based High State Council (HSC), Khaled Mishri, to meet for reconciliation talks in the coming days. The revelation was made by the official spokesperson of the HoR, Abdalla Belheeq, on Wednesday.
Belheeq added that Saleh accepted this invitation in the interest of ending the suffocating political crisis that the country is going through, which is reflected in the worsening of the situation in the country.
