Voter registration for municipal elections closed on 10 August 2017, and Tunisia’s Independent Elections Authority, the ISIE, announced its decision not to extend the process, in spite of relatively low turnout. On August 11, the ISIE released the results of the two-month registration period: 535,784 new voters and 92,201 updated registrations for a total of 5,373,845 voters who will participate in local elections on December 17.

Le Président de la République, Abdelaziz   Bouteflika, a mis fin mardi aux fonctions du Premier ministre Abdelmadjid   Tebboune et a nommé Ahmed Ouyahia à ce poste, indique un communiqué de la   Présidence de la République.

"En application de l'article 91, alinéa 5 de la Constitution, son   Excellence M. Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Président de la République, a mis fin,   ce jour, aux fonctions de Premier ministre, exercées par M. Abdelmadjid   Tebboune", précise la même source.

Les électeurs mauritaniens ont voté "oui" à 85 %, selon les résultats dévoilés dimanche par la commission électorale. La participation s'est élevée à 53,73 %. L'opposition radicale conteste les résultats.

PML-N's Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was sworn in as prime minister of Pakistan in an oath-taking ceremony held at President House on Tuesday.

 

President Mamnoon Hussain administered the oath to Abbasi.

Abbasi was elected prime minister by lawmakers in the National Assembly earlier today, bagging 221 votes to become the successor to ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

Sharif proposed Abbasi as interim prime minister at the meeting of Pakistan Muslim League party in Islamabad. His request was endorsed by lawmakers from his party.

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) office on Thursday said the plan to classify electoral constituencies in districts was being referred to the Independent Election Commission (IEC) within a week after its finalization.

CEO spokesman Javid Faisal told a press conference here that the upcoming Wolesi Jirga and district council elections would be managed through needed technology and legal procedures to purchase the technology had been completed.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) halted the notification of PPP candidate Saeed Ghani's victory in the PS-114 elections on Thursday. The ECP was hearing a petition by Muttahida Qaumi Movement - Pakistan (MQM-P) candidate Kamran Tessori for a vote recount.

Speaking through its counsel and member national assembly (MNA) Iqbal Qadri, MQM-P requested the ECP to order the returning officer to conduct a recount of votes for the recently-held elections in PS-114 in Karachi.

QUETTA: The Election Commissioner of Balochistan, Mohammad Naeem Majeed Jaffar, has said that all arrangements have been completed for holding on July 15 by-elections in NA-260 Quetta-cum-Chagai.

The National Assembly constituency comprises some parts of Quetta, Chagai and Noshki districts. Necessary instructions have been issued to the deputy commissioners for holding free, fair and transparent elections.

The Provincial Election Commissioner said that measures had also been undertaken for conducting elections in a peaceful atmosphere.

TIRANA, June 27/ATA/ – Preliminary election results published by Central Elections Committee (CEC) today show that the Socialist Party heads with 48.41 % votes while 5 105 of ballot boxes are counted out of the remaining 5 362 in total.

CEC preliminary data until 6:20 am result in Socialist Party with 726.290 votes or 48.41%, Democratic Party with 432.885 votes or 28.86%.

Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) is third with 216.330 votes or 14.42%, PJIU fourth with 69.992 votes or 4.67%, LIBRA with 18.363 votes or 1.22%, SDP with 12.914 votes or 0.86%.

IEC Announces Election Date: July Next Year

The IEC has announced the election date for parliamentary and district council elections – 7 July 2018.   Addressing a press conference on Thursday afternoon, IEC chief Najibullah Ahmadzai said work is underway to ensure a free and fair election. Ahmadzai said the IEC has learnt much from past elections and that because of the war there are problems.  He said however, that government needs to focus on vulnerable areas in order to hold successful elections.

(TAP) - The Mourakiboun Network and the Tunisian Association for the Integrity and Democracy of Elections (ATIDE) published on Tuesday the detailed results of the first day of the registration operation on the electoral register for the 2017 municipal elections.

Both associations noted gaps in the publication of lists of registration centres and offices that were set up by the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE).
