Lakes state military caretaker Governor Maj-Gen Matur Chut Dhuol has sworn in his newly appointed ministers on Tuesday despite the senior figures from the ruling party - Sudan people’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) - boycotting the ceremony.

The swearing in ceremony was organised by the Lakes State government secretariat general office without the normal procedure of notifying the SPLM office in Rumbek in regard to swearing in of the newly appointed ministers.

The Minister of Interior of the Somali Federal government, Mr Abdullahi Godax Barre spoke to Radio VOA and warned of the disruptions and problems in Baidoa.

The Minister’s speech came yesterday there was a conference in Baidoa (among a series of other gatherings) where Madoobe Nuunow Mohamed was elected to serve as president of the  new South-Western 6 region state.

The 15th Summit of Iran’s Assembly of Experts has kicked off in the capital, Tehran, with the country’s senior officials in attendance.

The two-day event opened in Tehran on Tuesday with a speech by Chairman of the Iranian Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Mohammad-Reza Mahdavi Kani.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and Chairman of the Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, both members of the Assembly, are among the participants of the meeting.

General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Executive Council of Emirate of Abu Dhabi, has issued a decision, forming the supervisory committee to oversee the elections of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) for year 2014.

Presidential candidate Ashraf Ghani-Ahmadzai said on Sunday that if he wins the presidency, his administration will involve people in the country’s major decisions, and not allow a small circle make key political and economic choices.

“A silent majority is currently in Afghanistan and small circles make the major decisions,” Ghani-Ahmadzai said. We will work to involve all the people in decision making.”

The Stanekzai Tribe Council announced its support for Ghani-Ahmadzai on Sunday.

Parties may accept more donations

The General Elections Commission (KPU) is allowing political parties to accept donations from legislative candidates or other third parties until April 5—marking the end of the campaign period— says KPU commissioner Hadar Nafis Gumay.

“Even though the deadline for submitting initial campaign budget reports is over, parties may still accept donations because financial transactions could still be carried out for campaign expenditures,” Hadar said in Jakarta on Sunday as quoted by Antara news agency.
