Elections législatives et municipales?: Un coup de balaie général pour 2014

Contrairement aux informations distillées il y a quelques jours par des sources de presse selon lesquelles la Commission électorale nationale indépendante (CENI) va fixer dans les 48 heures, une date pour la tenue d’élections législatives et municipales, les faits semblent prouver le contraire.

Selon d’autres indications, ces scrutins, qui souffrent déjà d’un retard de plus d’un an par rapport à leur délai constitutionnel, ne pourront pas avoir lieu en 2013. Certains analystes tablent pour des élections générales en 2014.

Morsy to receive nominees for Shura Council on Friday

The National Dialogue Committee (NDC) has completed its final list of nominations for the Shura Council and plans to present it to President Mohamed Morsy on Friday.

The NDC was formed by the president in an attempt to appease political forces who oppose the draft constitution, and to bridge differences across the parties in the future of the political process.

Draft law seeks to expel military members for political involvement

The draft of a law on the disciplinary rules of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) makes involvement by members of the military in political or ideologically motivated activities grounds for their expulsion from the military, the Yeni Şafak daily reported on Thursday.
 
According to the bill, which has been submitted to the Parliament Speaker's Office, military members who are involved in political or ideologically motivated activities will be expelled from the military.

Two new election tickets emerge ahead of official candidacy period

Two new political groups announced their nominees for the national ticket on Thursday, two days ahead of the start of the official period to file candidacy applications for the January 23 parliamentary polls.

The “Nation List”, which will be a nucleus of a new political party, announced on Thursday its 27 candidates on the national level, headed by former deputy Lower House speaker Atef Tarawneh.

The new group is expected to announce its full programme next week, according to Tarawneh.

Bosnia Urged To Put April Census on Hold

The external body monitoring Bosnia's 2013 census has advised the authorities to postpone the headcount planned for April on the grounds that the country is insufficiently prepared.

Andy McGuffie, of the EU delegation to Bosnia, told Balkan Insight on Wednesday that the International Monitoring Operation, IMO, which oversaw this year's test census, does not believe Bosnia and Herzegovina is ready.

Leftists and pan-Arab parties agreed to run for the January 23 parliamentary elections under one national list, a leftist leader said on Wednesday. 

“We will form the necessary coalitions with candidates at the national level, particularly those who adopt programmes similar to ours, but we will not have our own candidates to run in the local districts,” Abla Abu Olbeh, secretary general of the Jordanian Democratic People’s Party (Hashed), said.

Egypt's new public prosecutor, appointed by President Mohamed Morsi last month, has resigned from his post, judicial sources and the main state newspaper al-Ahram reports.

The resignation of Public Prosecutor Talaat Ibrahim Abdallah on Monday follows a furore among members of the judiciary who said Morsi's decision in November to sack the former public prosecutor and appoint Abdallah was an assault on the independence of the judiciary.

El sí se impuso por un margen más ajustado de lo esperado por los analistas en la primera jornada del referéndum constitucional celebrada el sábado en Egipto. Según datos oficiosos proporcionados por el Partido de la Libertad y la Justicia, la marca electoral de los Hermanos Musulmanes, un 56,5% de los ciudadanos votó a favor y un 43,5% en contra del borrador constitucional apadrinado por las fuerzas islamistas. Unos 26 millones de egipcios residentes en 10 provincias estaban convocados a las urnas para la primera ronda. El resto votará el próximo sábado 22 de diciembre.

L’opération d’installation des APC qui devait prendre fin hier, semble avoir toutes les chances de maintenir les positions de  classement des partis politiques sur la base de la proclamation des  résultats du 30 novembre passé. Dans cette optique, le FLN qui compte garder sa position de première force politique en tendant de se maintenir à la présidence d’un millier d’APC, réunira demain lundi, son bureau politique pour évaluer la situation et agir en conséquence sur le terrain dans la mesure de nombreuses communes traditionnellement lui acquises ont changé de couleurs.
