- Observations: One of Algeria's newest political parties, El Moustakbel has not as yet made much of a mark either politically or ideologically. The party was founded by Abdelaziz Belaid, previously a two-time MP for the FLN and former head of the Algerian National Youth Union. Belaid was a backer of Ali Benflis in the 2004 presidential elections, consequently falling out of favour with President Bouteflika and becoming the target of a corruption investigation. He returned to the FLN's fold in 2011, only to then quit to found the El Moustakbel the following year.
