  • Observations: The RPR is an off-shoot of the Algerian Movement for Justice & Development (AMJD) founded in 1990 by the late Prime Minister Kasdi Merbah. The party's leader Abelkader Merbah has the distinction of having been the sole member of an opposition party in the Algerian parliament at the beginning of the 90's, after he abandoned the FLN to join the new AMJD. Following the 2012 legislative elections, the RPR was one of the ringleaders of the "Front for the Protection of Democracy" which set up a parallel parliament to boycott the APN.
