Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu held a press conference to analyze the election results, saying the results put further responsibility on the shoulders of the CHP.
“Today’s picture put more responsibility on the CHP. The change in the CHP is positive and it will continue decisively. We respect today’s picture as we did on June 7. Nobody should feel itself above the law and every citizen’s life and property safety should be protected. We have always stood with the oppressed so far and we will continue to do so,” Kılıçdaroğlu said on Sunday night.
The CHP received 25.78 of the national vote, according to unofficial results, and got 135 seats in Parliament.
“Nobody should fear about Turkey’s future. It was the CHP who brought democracy to this country and it will be the CHP again who will strengthen it,” Kılıçdaroğlu added.
He added that the results may have been very different but for the spate of recent violence that has rocked Turkey.
