The Islamic Revolution Resistance Front has said it will definitely field a candidate for the June presidential election.

“Definitely, in the 11th presidential election we will name a candidate,” Kamran Baqer Lankarani, the front spokesman, told reporters in Shiraz.

Lankarani said Seed Jalili, the Supreme National Security Council secretary and chief nuclear negotiator, is one of figures that the front is considering as a candidate.

Lankarani who served as health minister in Ahmadinejad’s first administration added what is important in the presidential election is to have a “plan”. He said even if the front’s candidate does not win the election it will hand over its plan to the elected president.

He also said the front’s potential candidates have now been reduced to five among 70 people.

Lankarani refused to say that he himself is among the five potential candidates, saying it is a candidate’s plan which is of great importance.

The former minister said the front is entering the presidential race with a plan to counter sanctions, neutralize threats, and resolve economic problems.
