Former foreign minister Ali Akbar Velayati, who is a member of the three-strong principlist coalition planning to contest the 2013 presidential election, outlined the coalition’s policies during a press conference in Tehran on Sunday.

Velayati said that the coalition, which also consists of MP Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel and Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, had established three specialized working groups.

“If the coalition achieves victory in the upcoming election by the vote of the people, the working groups, whose responsibility has been taken over by the members of the coalition, will determine the main members of the next government,” Velayati said.

According to Velayati, Haddad-Adel is in charge of the cultural, scientific, and social working group, Qalibaf is responsible for the economic working group, and he himself heads the working group dealing with political and international affairs.

Velayati also invited those who have the necessary expertise and experience to join the three working groups and announce their plans.

The next presidential election is scheduled to be held on June 14.
