Tens of thousands of Iraqis have taken to the streets of Baghdad for the third week in a row to demand a political overhaul.

Gathering on Friday in the capital, protesters heeded a call to gather by powerful Shia cleric Muqtada al- Sadr, who is pressuring the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to push on with a plan to form a cabinet of independent ministers.

Former Iranian president and prominent reformist figure Mohammad Khatami has urged the Rohani government to honour its election promises, adding that the country’s security-laden atmosphere does not befit the Iranian people.

In a meeting with his advisers on Tuesday March 8, 2016, Khatami highlighted the role of MirHosein Mousavi, Zahra Rahnavard and Mehdi Karroubi in the recent parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections.

SAUDI women were waiting for December 2015 to enter for the first time the Municipal Council. Some 20 women are now participating in Municipal Council deliberations at different regions in the Kingdom while the total number of Municipal Council members exceeds 3,150. Though the women seats are few yet their participation has come after a long journey, said activists.
