Security Preparations For Runoff Begin
Security preparations for the presidential runoff have been tightened in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, and other cities throughout the country.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has committed to use all its capabilities to provide a secure runoff, but stressed that the public’s cooperation with the security forces will create for a secure election process.
MoI’s Spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said the ministry has sent more security forces to the eastern parts of the country and across the Durand Line.

Abdul Qayum Karzai Endorses Ghani
President Hamid Karzai’s brother, Abdul Qayum Karzai, and a number of his team members endorsed presidential candidate Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai on Sunday in front of supporters at the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul.
Mr. Kazai said he supports Dr. Ghani-Ahmadzai for a “free and independent Afghanistan.”
Dr. Ghani-Ahmadzai welcomed the endorsement and vowed to work together toward a better future for Afghanistan.
“Qayum Karzai did not join the team because of our 25 year friendship; he joined to build a better future for Afghanistan,” Dr. Ghani-Ahmadzai said.
