Gerindra to announce vice presidential candidate after legislative election

The Gerindra Party will announce the running mate of its presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto, after the legislative election, which is set to take place on April 9, a party official has said.

“We will wait until after April 9 to announce our candidate because we want to see the results of the election first,” said Gerindra chairman Suhardi on Sunday.

He was speaking on the sidelines of a campaign rally at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Senayan, Central Jakarta, as quoted by Antara news agency.

Speaker: “We’re expecting agendas from cabinet”

Speaker of the Somali parliament Mr. Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari spoke at a ceremony yesterday opening the 4th session of the Somali parliament and said that they are expecting from the prime minister to unveil his latest agendas so that the MP’s can work with the cabinet.

Mr Jawari added that the members of parliament need to provide strong advice to the agendas expected to be received very soon by the Somali government.

 

We are still 1.6 million ballots short: KPU

An official with the General Elections Commission (KPU) has said that with the deadline approaching, it is still short 1.6 million ballots.

“We only have three days prior to our deadline of March 25 to print those ballots,” said KPU commissioner Arief Budiman during a KPU event in Bangkalan regency, East Java as quoted by Antara news portal on Saturday.

But then he acknowledged that it would only need a day or two to finish printing the remaining ballots. The KPU has allocated 750 million ballots for the upcoming general election.

Somali president describes Al-Shabaab as an enemy of peace

The president of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mr Hassan Sheikh Mohamed, today reiterated that Al-Shabaab are an enemy of international peace.

Mr Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said that Al-Shabaab are reluctant to remain in Somalia, but that wherever they are in the world they are against tranquility.

“We prefer that our youth are rehabilitated from Al-Shabaab, and work towards creating a brighter future for themselves and we are more than willing to help them in these matters,” Said the president.

Election Violence Continues in Aceh

Banda Aceh. Two National Aceh Party (PNA) members were critically injured and a member of the Aceh Party (PA) was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries in related incidents on Friday.

Aceh Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Gustav Leo said on Saturday that PA member Ahmad Syuib, 28, was shot on Jalan Banda Aceh Medan at Ulee Reuleueng village, North Aceh district on Friday night.

“He was shot in the ribs when he was on his way home [with other party members] in a convoy of cars after attending the Aceh Party’s campaign event,” Gustav said.

Sudanese president directs cabinet to fight corruption and uphold accountability

Sudanese president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir has laid out the guidelines of a reform plan before cabinet in an emergency session on Sunday, directing ministers to fight corruption and uphold the principle of accountability.

He announced the formation of a higher committee comprised of five sub-committees to implement articles of the reform plan noting that the move does not contradict the ongoing dialogue with political forces.

Kajang by-election: Man detained for obstructing police

KAJANG: Police have detained a man over incidents during balloting in Sunday's by-election.

Selangor police chief Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan said the man was detained for trying to obstruct police from dismantling a tent at the Jalan Taman Delima junction here.

The 43-year-old man was said to have scolded a policeman by using vulgar words and preventing police from bringing down the tent as ordered by the Election Commission (EC).

L'ancien Chef du Gouvernement et leader d'Ennahdha, Ali Laarayedh, a déclaré lors d'un meeting de son parti à la Mehdia que le Mouvement se présentera seul aux prochaines élections législatives du pays. Il a annoncé que les négociations à propos des présidentielles n'ont pas encore commencé mais que le Mouvement apportera son soutien au candidat qui aura l'accord de la majorité des partis politiques actifs sur la scène.

Kajang by-election: PKR retains seat

KAJANG: PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail has won the Kajang state seat in Sunday's by-election.

The final tally from all 88 channels showed Dr Wan Azizah securing  16,741 votes while Barisan Nasional's Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun garnered  11,362 votes (5,379 vote majority).

The voter turnout for the by-election was 72 percent (28,314 voters) compared to a turnout of 87.9 percent in the May 5 general election last year.

Le leader au Mouvement Ennahdha, Abdelatif Mekki, a exclu, lors d'un meeting populaire d'Ennahdha à Médenine, toute alliance de son parti avec d’autres partis pour les prochaines élections.

Mekki a indiqué que la loi électorale n’encourage pas les alliances entre les grands et les petits partis, mais encourage à s'engager de  façon individuelle pour les prochaines élections.

MQM to have five ministries, two advisers

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have inched closer to announcing a formation of a coalition government in Sindh as five ministries are likely to be handed over to the MQM, party sources said on Saturday.

The leaders of the two parties are also expected to meet at Governor House in a day or two, where the portfolios would be finalised. The names of the potential ministers have been sent to MQM chief Altaf Hussain for approval.

Le porte-parole du Front Destourien, Mohamed Jgham a déclaré lors d’une déclaration accordée à Mosaïque FM qu’il n’exclut pas la possibilité de rejoindre l’Union Pour la Tunisie. 

De son côté, Tarek Ben Mbarek, coordinateur général du Front Destourien a indiqué qu’aucun parti politique ne peut remporter les élections ou diriger le pays sans s’allier avec la famille destourienne. Il a ajouté que des négociations sont actuellement en cours pour l’adhésion de trois partis à tendance destourienne au Front Destourien. 

 

IBK désapprouve Bathily

En rendant un vibrant hommage à ATT à Mopti, une raison de sa visite (c’est lui qui le dit), IBK désapprouve en passant, le ministre de la justice Mohamed Ali Bathily qui n’est autre que l’initiateur de la poursuite contre ATT pour haute trahison.

 

En somme, il existe un contentieux historique entre l’ancien président et l’actuel ministre de la justice. Et selon toute évidence, IBK n’a nullement intention de prendre part à cette guéguerre.
