Nearly a thousand supporters of the former ruling Democratic Party gathered on Monday despite rainy weather to shout slogans against the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, told supporters that reported incidents of vote-buying in the elections in Korca revealed the truth about Rama’s centre-left government.

L'écrivain algérien Yasmina Khadra a annoncé samedi 2 novembre qu'il était candidat à l'élection présidentielle de 2014, confirmant une déclaration au forum du quotidien Liberté. "C'est officiel, je suis candidat à la présidentielle de 2014", a déclaré M. Khadra.

Yasmina Khadra, de son vrai nom Mohammed Moulessehoul, est né en 1955 dans le Sahara algérien. Il est lauréat de plusieurs prix internationaux pour ses nombreux romans et dirige actuellement le Centre culturel algérien (CCA) à Paris.

Election Fraud Worries Eligible Voters: Study

Vote-buying and ballot fraud are voters’ chief concerns about next year’s general elections, a new study by the People’s Voter Education Network has revealed.

Thirty-four percent of the public were worried about the two points People’s Voter Education Network (JPPR) deputy coordinator Masykurudin Hafidz told the Jakarta Globe on Wednesday.

Masykurudin said 14 percent of eligible voters were also worried that general election organizers might use their positions to influence results.

R espondents also expressed concerns about intimidation.

Poll observers and politicians have slammed election organizers for sticking with the current voter roll for the 2014 elections, warning of flawed data that could pad the list by more than 10 million fictional voters.

Ray Rangkuti, director of the Indonesian Civil Circle (Lima), an election watchdog, accused the General Elections Commission (KPU) on Tuesday of being “too forceful” in insisting on Monday that it would stick with its much-criticized list of 186.6 million registered voters.

PDI-P Open to Joko Presidential Bid: Official

A senior member of the Indonesian Democracy Party of Struggle (PDI-P) said on Thursday that the party held no objection to nominating Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo as a presidential candidate in the 2014 national election.

“For Megawati [Sukarnoputri], it has never been a problem,” Sabam Sirait said. “The PDI-P has no objection if it is Jokowi, but let us see when the time comes. The time is not yet right, we only need to wait for the right moment.”
