(TAP) - A meeting between the Independent High Authority for the Elections (ISIE) and the National Anti-Corruption Authority (INLUCC) was held Monday as part of co-ordinated action of the two authorities to create the conditions for success of the next elections.

Chaouki Tabib, President of INLUCC stressed the importance of the partnership action between the two authorities under the league of independent public bodies through the division of tasks and the need for co-ordination with the various structures concerned.

One of the most important challenges facing the league of independent public bodies in this election year is the need to respect personal data and access to information, in addition to lack of material resources of some authorities, he added.

He also stressed the need to build the capacity of executives of the various bodies.

Tabib cited among other challenges, the establishment of a common database with civil society in the regions.

Nabil Bafoun, President of the ISIE highlighted the importance of co-operation with other bodies, without each abandoning its core mission and exercising its powers under signed agreements.

"One of the most important problems is the overlap between party and association work during election campaigns, especially abroad, where it is difficult to monitor and report violations," he pointed out.

Bafoun emphasised the need to control political money, especially during the election period and exercise tight control over campaign financing.
