ALGIERS- President of the National Commission for Local Elections surveillance (CNISEL) Mohamed Seddiki said Saturday that the commission activities may possibly be suspended as from next Monday.

In a statement to APS after a conference having brought together the members of the provincial commission and communal commissions of Algiers in charge of surveillance of 29 Nov elections, Seddiki said that the "members of the commission will take their final decision to suspend their activities or quit" during the meeting which will be held next Monday.

He recalled having given to Interior Minister Dahou Ould Kablia, and Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, the "platform of claims."

They cover the "appointment of neutral supervisors at the head of polling stations and centres, the requirement of unique ballot, the rationalization of expenses and submission of voters’ lists to the surveillance commission.

In his intervention during this meeting, CNISEL president insisted on the importance to meet the commission claims so it can accomplish its mission in the best conditions.
