HPR Bureau to meet Wednesday to set date for plenary dedicated to election of ISIE president.

 Speaker of the House of People's Representatives (HPR) Mohamed Ennaceur said Monday that the bureau of the HPR should meet next Wednesday to set the date of the plenary session dedicated to the election of the president of the Independent High Authority for the Elections (ISIE).

 Speaking at the end of the meeting of presidents of parliamentary groups held Monday afternoon in Bardo, Mohamed Ennaceur said the consensus between the parliamentary blocs on the election of the president of the electoral commission is making progress.”

 Chair of Machrou Tounes’ parliamentary group, Abderraouf Cherif told TAP several group presidents have proposed holding a plenary session next Friday for the election of the ISIE president.

 For his part, MP Fadhel Abdelkefi, chair of the elections committee for the 2016/2017 parliamentary session said that the committee had finished its work on July 12, 2017 and submitted its report to the HPR Bureau about candidates to the Constitutional Court.

 During Monday’s meeting of the presidents of parliamentary groups, it was agreed, according to Abdelkefi, that the HPR Speaker sends a correspondence to the parliamentary electoral committee for the review of three files of applications for this court, namely those of Chokri Mabkhout, Najoua Mallouli and Zouheir Ben Tanfous.

The files accepted by the commission are those of Ayachi Hammami, Raoudha Ouersighni, Slim Laghmani, Sana Ben Achour and Abdelatif Bouazizi.

 The Constitutional Court consists of 12 members for a single term of 9 years.

 The President of the Republic, the Parliament speaker and the Supreme Judicial Council each propose 4 candidates, three quarters of whom must be specialists in law.
