New Comptroller Report to Slam Netanyahu on Housing Problems

While the Comptroller's report on household spending released this week is seen by most Israelis as “politics as usual” - and thus not affecting. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the Likud at the polls – a new report being prepared by Comptroller Yosef Shapira could be a much bigger problem for the Prime Minister.

In that report, which is to be released sometime before the March 17 elections, the Comptroller will describe what he believes are the reasons homes in Israel are so expensive.

 

Iran’s legislative elections to come on February 26, 2016

The spokesman for Iran’s Guardian Council has announced the official date for the next legislative elections in the country.Nejatollah Ebrahimian said Wednesday that nationwide elections to elect representatives for the Iranian parliament (Majlis) will take place on February 26, 2016.

Iran’s Interior Ministry, which is charged with organizing the vote, had demanded the Guardian Council to pick a choice between February 26 and March 4 next year, Ebrahimian said.

Terrorist attack in Kasserine: Security forces protest against working conditions

KASSERINE(TAP) high degree of tension has prevailed, Wednesday, among the security forces who gathered at the Kasserine regional hospital, where the bodies of four National Guard officers had been transferred, at about 02.00 a.m., martyred in a terrorist attack in Boulaaba.

 

The security forces voiced dissatisfaction with the working conditions and protested against the lack of equipment and security reinforcement, TAP correspondent in the region reported.

Ali Benflis, ancien chef de gouvernement et candidat à l’élection présidentielle du 17 avril dernier, peut enfin tenir le congrès de son parti, "Talaiou El Houriyet" (Les avant-gardes des libertés). 

Le ministère de l’intérieur avait signifié verbalement mardi au représentant des membres fondateurs que le parti était autorisé à tenir son congrès. Le document officiel contenant cette autorisation a été remis ce mercredi, indique un communiqué d’Ali Benflis diffusé sur les réseaux sociaux.

Le compte à rebours a commencé. Le dépôt des candidatures qui s’est ouvert le 10 février permet aux candi­dats de déposer leur candidature pen­dant dix jours. La commission électorale a annoncé que les élections législatives se dérou­leront en deux étapes. La première les 22 et 23 mars pour les gouvernorats de Haute-Egypte, de la mer Rouge, Alexandrie, Marsa Matrouh et Guiza. Et la seconde étape se tiendra les 26 et 27 avril, et comprendra le gouvernorat du Caire, les gouvernorats de Basse-Egypte, le Sinaï et ceux du Canal.

Egypt's party candidates struggle to meet ‎parliamentary registration deadline

Leading officials of Egypt's political parties have said they are ‎doing their best to finalise the registration papers of ‎their candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections. ‎‎On Sunday, the Higher Elections Committee (HEC) ‎extended the window for parliamentary candidate ‎registration by two days — from 2pm Tuesday, 17 ‎February, to 7pm Thursday, 19 February.‎

Some had high hopes that the registration window ‎would remain open beyond Thursday so that party-‎based candidates could have more time to submit their ‎registration papers.‎

184 candidates submit nomination papers for Senate elections: ECP

ISLAMABAD: One hundred and eighty four candidates have submitted their nomination papers for the upcoming Senate elections, a statement by the Election Commission of Pakistan on Monday said. 

According to the election commission, 23 candidates from Punjab, 28 candidates from Sindh, 39 candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkha and 42 from Balochistan submitted their nomination papers.
