Mohamed Hamdi: L'alliance démocratique ne s'en tient pas à trois membres

Le président du parti de l’alliance démocratique Mohamed Hamdi a tenu à préciser dans la journée du jeudi 7 mars 2014 que son parti ne s’en tient pas à trois membres et comporte de nombreux militants. 

L’apparition de certains membres sur les plateaux télévisés ne signifie pas pour autant que ces derniers font la pluie et le beau temps au sein du parti.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan referred to himself as the “marathon man” in a rally on March 6, responding to opposition vows that his ambition to become president would be in vain. 

Speaking during a rally in the Eastern Anatolian province of Elazığ, the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) leader said the presidential race was not currently his main agenda, but added that he would consider it after the March 30 local elections.

Organisé par l’opposition démocratique (COD, Tawassoul, AP) et la société civile (syndicats et personnalités indépendantes), ces assises avaient pour but de parvenir à « un consensus pour sortir le pays de l’impasse politique dans lequel il se débat depuis l’arrivée de Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz au pouvoir, en 2008 ».

Il est assis dans un des salons du Conseil constitutionnel. Toute la soirée de mardi, il avait posté des messages sur sa page en direction de ses soutiens. Le dernier en date a été posté à 22h40, dans lequel il affirmait : «J’attends mon tour dans la salle d’attente... Deux autres candidats n’ont pas encore fini avec le président du Conseil. Patience.» Puis une heure plus tard… Patatras ! Le candidat déclare que le véhicule qui transportait ses parrainages et dans lequel se trouvait son frère… avait disparu. Face à cette situation, l’institution lui accorde une heure supplémentaire.

Bosnia's State Prosecutor has denied claims made by a judge that it eavesdrops and works to an agenda set by the country's Bosniak political parties.

Bosnia's Prosecutor's Office has denied eavesdropping and rebuffed claims that it works unde the influence of the country's main Bosniak parties.

“It is sad that some judicial officials, even judges... join in media attacks on institutions,” the Prosecutor said on Wednesday. 

Croatian Ex-President Urges New 'Dayton' For Bosnia

Former Croatian president Stjepan Mesic is to advocate a new international conference on Bosnia, so that the country can become a 'citizens's state divided into several multi-ethnic cantons'.

The former Croatian President on Friday is to propose a new Dayton-style agreement on Bosnia in Mostar, where he is due to deliver a speech.

Mesic's proposal involves Croatia initiating the main changes to the 1995 Dayton Ohio deal, which ended Bosnia's 1992-5 war.

Egypt's cabinet approve new presidential elections law

The Egyptian cabinet officially approved the final draft of a new presidential elections law on Thursday, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

The State Council, a judicial advisory body, had been given the 59-article law last week and asked to review a variety of proposed amendments after President Adly Mansour put the document up for public debate and began fielding suggestions.

Mansour, who holds legislative powers in the absence of a sitting parliament, is expected to promulgate the law early next week.

Civil Society Focuses on Election Awareness, Cooperation

A meeting on Thursday brought Afghan election officials, civil society groups and women's right activists together to discuss election security, voter awareness and election transparency. 

The Canadian Ambassador to Afghanistan, Deborah Lyons, was also in attendance. She said she appreciated the efforts made by civil society groups in coordination with the government to enhance public awareness about the elections.
