Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu announced Turkey's new cabinet on Nov. 24 after the list was approved by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Former Finance Minister Mehmet Şişmek has become the deputy prime minister in charge of economy, while Ali Babacan was not included in the cabinet.
Berat Albayrak, President Erdoğan’s son-in-law became the country's new energy minister.
Volkan Bozkır was once again appointed as Turkey’s European Union minister as Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu returned to the cabinet as the foreign minister, replacing Feridun Sinirlioğlu, who undertook the job during the interim government.
Tuğrul Türkeş, son of the founder of the opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), who had joined the interim government despite his party’s reaction and was elected to parliament from the ranks of the ruling party on Nov. 1, kept his seat as a deputy prime minister.
The new cabinet includes two female members: Family and Social Policies Minister Sema Ramazanoğlu and Environment and Urbanization Minister Fatma Güldemet Sarı.
Davutoğlu’s Justice and Development Party (AKP) won nearly half of the votes in the Nov. 1 elections, which followed a June 7 election that failed to produce a majority government.
