Egypt's highest judicial body joined protesters Saturday in lambasting the country's president for issuing a decree disabling the courts and giving him unchecked power.

President Mohamed Morsy on Thursday announced that courts could not overturn any decree or law he has issued since taking office in June and, beyond that, in the six months until a new constitution is finalized, his spokesman said on state-run TV.

 The IHEC approves (23) PEs that presented their request to participate in GCEs which take place on 20 April. Next year.

Mr. Moqdad Al Sharify, CEO declared that the number of political entity approved by the IEHC are (23) political entity and the IHEC still accept requests from a different entities according to the procedures and regulations that adopted by IHEC.

The IHEC Opened the political entity registration untill 25 November after approved the certification regulation of the PE and coalition.

There was outrage on the opposition benches over a bill providing a ‘blanket cover’ for actions taken by former premier Yousaf Raza Gilani between his conviction and his ultimate disqualification – but the government, unfazed, simply put the bill before the house and got it approved anyway.

The National Assembly passed the bill, which validates acts and orders made and issued from April 26, 2012 to June 19, 2012 (both days inclusive), on Monday. The legislation is known as the Validation Bill, 2012.

Meshrano Jirga -- or upper house of parliament -- on Sunday rejected a proposed panel that would introduce members of election commissions' to the president.

The panel's creation has been suggested in a law on the composition, duties and powers of the Independent Election Commission ('IEC) and Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC). The Wolesi Jirga, lower house, passed the measure last month.

The opposition decided yesterday to launch a campaign in all the five constituencies to boycott the Dec 1 general elections after it said that its boycott of candidate registration had been very successful. Speaking after a meeting of former opposition MPs and youth activists, former MP Jamaan Al-Harbash said that it has been decided that former lawmakers will coordinate in each constituency with youth activists to call on people to boycott the ballots.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's rivals have started campaigning for term limits in an attempt to block the Shi'ite leader running for a third term in 2014, opening up a new battle in the country's fragile cross-sectarian government.

13 Political Parties Pass Verification for 2014 Elections

Thirteen political parties have passed factual verification conducted by the General Election Commission (KPU) for 2014 elections. 

Three other political parties, including Golkar and Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), yet to pass the verification. The factual verification includes (1) core party structure (chairman, secretary, treasurer), party's office, and representation of 30% female in the party structure.

A Hizbullah delegation held talks on Friday with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi on the latest local developments, particularly a new government and parliamentary electoral law.

It said after the talks at Bkirki: “Proposals to form a neutral government are not realistic and we oppose the obstruction of state institutions.”

The delegation was headed by Hizbullah's politburo chief Sayyed Ibrahim Amin al-Sayyed.

JERUSALEM, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Israel's Parliament on Tuesday set a January 22 date for a national election and opinion polls predict an easy win for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in balloting expected to focus on his tough policies on Iran's nuclear programme and economics.

Lawmakers approved the measure by a vote of 100 to nil after a more than eight-hour debate, dissolving parliament, or ending its term of office, effective immediately and months ahead of schedule.

AMMAN – The Independent Elections Commission (IEC) on Tuesday announced that the upcoming parliamentary elections will be held on January 23, 2013, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

The IEC also announced that filing candidacy applications for the elections will start on December 22 and will continue for three days, according to the law.
