Dans le cadre d’une conférence portant sur les lacunes de l’opération électorale, Chafik Sarsar, le président de l’ISIE, a déclaré à Express FM que les élections de 2014 sont parmi les élections les mieux réussies. Selon lui ; La Tunisie se place en 25ème position mondiale.

 

Il a indiqué que la date des élections municipales ne dépassera pas mai 2016.

Le président de l’Instance Supérieure Indépendante des Elections (ISIE), Chafik Sarsar, a insisté sur la nécessité de moderniser le régime juridique régissant la présentation des candidatures en vue des élections municipales, rapporte le quotidien Al Maghreb.

Il a, aussi, appelé les acteurs politiques à se préparer pour mettre en place un cadre légal pour les élections municipales qui auront lieu, selon lui, en 2016.

Tunis Center For Press Freedom: aggression towards the press, Bardo revealed difficulties

Around 24 reported aggressions against journalists have been recorded during the month of March, 2015 in Tunisia according to a report of Tunis Center for Press Freedom.

The attack on the Bardo museum in March “revealed difficulties to understand the journalist’s missions whether they were at the heart of the event, or publishing and broadcasting information,” according to the report.

HRW: Counter-terrorism shouldn't come at the cost of human rights in Tunisia

Human Rights Watch (HRW) released a report on Wednesday criticizing a new counter-terrorism bill being discussed by Tunisian lawmakers. Counter-terrorism legislation was under review at the time of the attack last month at the Bardo Museum, and the draft in question was produced about a week after the incident.

New figures from EMRHOD Consulting shed light on the opinions of Tunisians, including a survey showing that about 70 percent of Tunisians feel that the threat of terrorism is too high.

The data comes out just a few weeks after the attack at Tunis’ Bardo Museum, which yielded one of the worst civilian death tolls of any incident in Tunisia’s modern history. The 69.8 percent of people who believe that the threat of terrorism is “too large” is the highest rate since September 2014, when threats loomed in the days before elections.

Prime  Minister Habib Essid received, Tuesday, Independent Higher Authority for the Elections (ISIE) President  Shafik Sarsar who handed him a report on the 2014 legislative and  presidential elections.

Sarsar said that the meeting had been an occasion to discuss preparations for the municipal elections and ISIE’s staff regulations, a Prime Ministry press release reads.

He announced that the general report on the legislative and presidential elections will be posted on ISIE’s official website as of, today Tuesday.

President Beji Caid Essebsi received, Friday, a report on the 2014 legislative and presidential elections and on the recommendations for the next polls.

The report was handed to him by President of the Independent High Authority for the Elections (ISIE) Chafik Sarsar.

The Head of State emphasised the need to work, immediately, to provide optimal conditions for the organisation of the next elections.

Tunisia's prime minister says 19 people have been killed during a security operation at a museum in the capital after a deadly hostage siege.

The attackers killed at least 17 foreign tourists at the National Bardo Museum in central Tunis during Wednesday's assault before they were killed, Habib Essid said after the crisis was over, addingt that 22 were wounded.

The prime minister added that Italian, German, Polish and Spanish tourists were among those killed in museum attack.

He said his government was working to find out the identity of the two attackers.

Member of the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) Anouar Belhassan, on Thursday, called for strengthening the process of monitoring financing of the next municipal elections, namely election campaigns that will see a fierce competition between candidate lists, even candidates.

Speaking at a workshop on “Monitoring political Financing” held by the « Al-Kawakibi » centre, Belhassan called for devising a new strategy regulating the municipal elections so as to ensure a better monitoring of the various stages.

La Fédération nationale des villes tunisiennes (FNVT) a annoncé le démarrage de l’élaboration de 4 projets de loi sur la décentralisation et la gouvernance locale, en prévision des élections municipales. 

Ces projets de loi concernent la loi organique des régions et municipalités, la loi électorale pour les régions et municipalités, la loi organique du budget des collectivités locales et le code de l’aménagement du territoire et de l’urbanisme.

 Le président de l’Instance supérieure indépendante pour les élections, Chafik Sarsar, a jugé improbable la tenue d’élections municipales en 2015, invoquant le facteur temps pour la promulgation préalable de l’arsenal législatif nécessaire à cette opération, dont une nouvelle loi électorale.
«Au vu du rythme d’avancement du travail législatif, il serait difficile de tenir les élections municipales cette année», a déclaré Chafik Sarsar.

Terrorist attack in Kasserine: Security forces protest against working conditions

KASSERINE(TAP) high degree of tension has prevailed, Wednesday, among the security forces who gathered at the Kasserine regional hospital, where the bodies of four National Guard officers had been transferred, at about 02.00 a.m., martyred in a terrorist attack in Boulaaba.

 

The security forces voiced dissatisfaction with the working conditions and protested against the lack of equipment and security reinforcement, TAP correspondent in the region reported.
